Grateful for the Past, Preparing for the Future.

Dear Valued Member,

As change is inevitable, a successful business plans and prepares for change all the time. KRD is no stranger to change, and we are ready to begin a new chapter in our story. To better represent our current membership and KRD’s goals, on April 4, 2022, KRD’s name will be officially changed to Midwest Liberty Federal Credit Union.

Midwest Liberty FCU represents the area where the credit union originated and the credit union's goal to help members obtain financial freedom (Liberty).

Other changes coming in 2022 and 2023:

● Remote Deposit Capture ● Overdraft Privilege

● Overdraft Line of Credit ● Field of Membership Expansion

● Money Market Account ● Credit Card

You will continue to receive the same exceptional customer service and commitment from Midwest Liberty FCU as you would from KRD FCU for your wealth management and banking needs.

Sincerely,
Sarah Renner, CEO

Q: What is our new name?

A: Midwest Liberty Federal Credit Union

Q: When will the name change take effect?

A: Midwest Liberty Federal Credit Union is our new name, effective immediately. It will take some time and coordination to get all our signs and the last name references removed. If you see our old name somewhere, be patient; we are working with all our vendors/partners to get things updated.

Q: Is the name a result of a merger or acquisition?

A: The name change is NOT the result of a merger or acquisition of any kind. We have chosen to change our name to better reflect our expanded member base.

Q: Why is KRD Federal Credit Union changing its name?

For those that did not know, KRD stands for Kansas River District. The Bureau of Reclamation employees started KRD in 1949. Since KRD’s beginning as a single-member group over 70 years ago, KRD now consists of over 90 member groups and 7 faith-based organizations. KRD no longer represents who our members are.

Q: How are these changes going to impact me?

A: Your credit union is getting better! We are keeping your needs in mind and the future needs of the communities and groups we serve. Same excellent service, new name, and new look.

Q: Will the change impact the products, service, staff, account numbers, or locations?

A: No, just a name change. There will not be a change to staff, products, or member account numbers. There will be no need to order new checks or debit card. Our routing number will not change.

Q: What do I have to do personally because of the name change?

A: Absolutely nothing. There should be little impact to you as a member. Your account number(s) will remain the same, as will all of your products and services.

Q: What about the checks I have?

A: You can continue to use your checks that have KRD Federal Credit Union on them. The checks will still clear your account. When you run out of checks, the new ones will carry the new name and logo.

Q: Will my debit card still work?

A: Yes. We will issue debit cards with our new name on it when your card expires.

Q: Do I need to change my direct deposit or automatic payments?

A: All direct deposits, payroll deductions, automatic drafts, and other ACH services are transmitted using the Credit Union's Routing number and your account number. Since these numbers have not changed, your payments should process without any change on your part.

Q: What if I use a Bill Pay service outside of Midwest Liberty’s Online Bill Pay service?

A: If you have an outside Bill Pay service, we recommend that you update the information to Midwest Liberty Federal Credit Union as of April 4, 2022.

Q: Will I need to download a new app for mobile banking?

A: No. You will continue to use the same mobile app, Soon, you will see our icon change from KRD’s logo to Midwest Liberty’s logo.

Q: Did the members vote to approve the new name?

A: Current Credit Union law does not require a membership to vote for a name change.

Q: Will a name change inhibit our success?

A: The name change and rebranding are the first of many steps the Strategic Planning Committee has planned to allow KRD to grow and become stronger.

Q: Is the Credit Union financially stable and secure?

A: Absolutely! We have been a strong financial institution for over 72 years and continue to be. In fact, this re-branding will allow for continued growth and stability.

Q: Was the name change expensive?

A: We put careful thoughtful consideration into this. This allowed us to deplete many of our materials like letterhead, envelopes, and more. The new materials are a sound investment in our future growth.

Q: Will fees, loan rates, and deposit rates be impacted by the name change?

A: The new name will not affect our rates or fees. Rates and fees do fluctuate, but they are adjusted in response to market conditions.

Q: Will your phone numbers and email addresses stay the same?

A: Our phone number will remain the same. We will have new email addresses, but all the old addresses will still forward to us.

Q: Are my deposits still federally insured?

A: Your accounts are still insured by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government through the NCUA — National Credit Union Administration. The funds in your accounts at the credit union are insured up to $250,000.

Q: Who should i contact if i have further questions?

A: We encourage you to email any questions to our CEO, Sarah Renner, at SarahR@midwestlibertyfcu.org or call (308) 345-7040.
